Wyatt Cabral, Placencia, Belize Fishing, Diving and Snorkeling Guide

As you might have guessed from the picture above, Wyatt likes what he does -- which is guiding anglers to the best fishing spots in southern Belize.

Wyatt Cabral, Tim and Tim's PermitWyatt was born in 1965 in Placencia as one of 14 children.  (His brothers, Daniel, Egbert and Julian are also Placencia area fishing guides.)

Wyatt started his fishing career as a commercial fisherman before tourism came to Placencia Village.  Spincasting, trolling and bottom fishing were part of his commercial fishing repertoire and he learned those well helping his brothers and father provide food and a living for their family on Whippari Caye off the Placencia coast. 

But, when the first tourists came to Placencia with their flyfishing gear, Wyatt became curious about their odd way of fishing.   After trying out flyfishing with borrowed rods and reels, he bought his first rod and reel -- and was "hooked" (couldn't resist).

Wyatt later learned to scuba dive, took his open water course and fell as much in love with the underwater world as he already was with the above-water world of fishing.  He then went on to become a certified dive master and assistant scuba diving instructor, as well as a fishing guide.

For the last 12 years, Wyatt has been working as a free lance guide from both Glover's Reef Atoll and the Placencia area guiding visitors in scuba diving, snorkeling, flyfishing, spin casting and trolling. 

Wyatt and Carlie CabralWyatt is married to Carina Cabral, baker and gardener par excellence. 

(Wyatt's clients get the added benefit of Carina's fresh-baked bread and amazing home made lunches.) 

Wyatt and Carina have a son, Carl Wyatt Cabral.  At the tender age of 14 months, it looks from the picture at left that Carlie will soon be carrying on the Cabral tradition!

Without reservation, we can say that Wyatt is one of the premier guides in southern Belize.  And his clients agree -- here's a sample:

I've had the opportunity to fish with professional fly fishing guides in many parts of the world, including Seychelles, Indonesia, Mexico, United States, and Belize to name a few. Of the many guides that I've fished with, Wyatt Cabral was the most willing to listen to what my interests were and was the most fun to spend the day with. On my next visit to Belize, I intend to book him for more than the five days I spent with him this time.
